Louisiana angler Greg Hackney won the Major League Fishing world championship Saturday.

Hackney, who won the Bassmaster Elite Series at Sabine River last month in Orange, won the world title with 10 bass totaling 32 pounds, 6 ounces in the final round. He competed in a CBS-televised final round of four anglers including Andy Montgomery, Skeet Reese and Mike Iaconelli.

Major League Fishing, which began in 2009, is independent from B.A.S.S. and FLW Outdoors but plays a “complementary role” to the more well-known organizations, according to its website.
