NBA: Rockets sign 2017 draftee Hartenstein

The Houston Rockets have signed 2017 second-round pick and forward/center Isaiah Hartenstein.

Hartenstein, 20, spent last season in the NBA G League (formerly the Development League, or D-League), for the Rockets’ farm team, the Rio Grande Valley Vipers. Hartenstein scored 9.5 points and totaled 6.6 rebounds and 1.1 blocks in 18.7 minutes of action per game, while shooting 57.1 percent from the field. During this year’s Summer League, Hartenstein, he averaged 10.3 points, 8 rebounds and 2.25 blocks in 21.9 minutes per game for the Rockets while shooting 52.2 percent from the floor.

Hartenstein moved from Oregon to Germany, where his father Florian played professional basketball, at age 11. He’s represented Germany in four FIBA events and played for the World Select Team at the 2017 Nike Hoops Summit, having also played professionally in Lithuania and Germany.
