TRACK: Orangefield’s Helms qualify for AAU Junior Olympics

- Orangefield High incoming junior Maddison Helm and her sister, incoming freshman Katelynn Helm, competed in the AAU Junior Olympics Region 19 meet in Converse, which wrapped up Saturday and qualified for the July 30-Aug. 4 national Junior Olympics in Des Moines, Iowa. Maddison Helm won the 1,500 meters and finished second in the 3,000. Katelynn qualified by placing sixth in both the 400 meters and 1,500 meters. “The community, school district and athletic program wish them the very best as they represent Orangefield at the Junior Olympics,” Orangefield athletic director Josh Smalley said.
