Travis Wayne Evans—Criminal & Family Law Attorney and Municipal Judge, passed from his earthly life on Friday, June 8, 2018, at Memorial Herman Hospital, Houston, Texas. He was born July 28, 1967, in Natchez, Mississippi to Deloris Evans and Duncan Green and lived in Port Arthur/Houston, Texas for 50 years. He gave his life to the Lord at the age of seven and was baptized at the East Mount Olive Baptist Church. He attended Windsor Village Church, Houston, Texas.
Travis received his high school diploma from Thomas Jefferson High School in 1984.
He graduated from Lamar University in 1989 and Thurgood Marshall School of Law in May 1993. He was a member of the Texas Bar Association for Justice and a member of the Young Black Lawyer Association.
We Mourn Travis’s untimely death, but we celebrate the way he lived his life. Travis was a beloved advocate, son, brother, uncle and friend. As an attorney and municipal Judge he was absolutely conscientious about the law. He will be remembered for his kindness, leadership, loyalty, sense of humor and humility. Travis was a sport enthusiast and especially loved the Dallas Cowboys.
Travis was preceded in death by his step-father Joe Coleman, brother, Johnathan Rochelle Evans; step-brother Don Coleman and grandmother Mable M. Evans.
He leaves to cherish in his precious memories his loving mother Deloris Evans Coleman (Port Arthur, Texas); brother Jalik Coleman (Port Arthur, Texas); step-sister Gaynell LaGronge (Houston, Texas); godson Caleb J. Charles (Missouri City, Texas); Aunt Edna Marie Jackson (Haywood, California); three nieces, six nephews, A special uncle John Evans (Natchez, Mississippi). Special friends Clifton Charles, Frankie Evans and Courtney Perkins; and a host of cherished cousins, great nieces, great nephews and other relatives and so many wonderful friends.
Funeral service will be held at 11:00 AM on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1919 Jefferson Drive, Port Arthur, TX, with Pastor Albert Moses, Jr., officiating. Visitation will be prior to the service beginning at 9:00 a.m. Final resting place will be at Live Oak Cemetery, 12563 West Port Arthur Road, Port Arthur, Texas. Final arrangements are entrusted to Gabriel Funeral Home of Port Arthur, Texas.
