Ms. Barbara Jean Carey, 70, of Port Arthur, Texas, peacefully passed away Sunday, June 3, 2018 at The Pointe Senior Care and Rehabilitation Center in Webster, Texas. She is survived by her two sons, James Earl Carey and Jamie Demond DeRouen.
Ms. Carey was a dedicated employee of The Seagull Motel, Texas State Optical, and the Monk McPherson Law Firm where she was in charge of custodial services. She was further employed by the Doctors Hospital where her savory talents as a cook shone through. She also persevered as a warehouse woman at Sabine Offshore. As an extension of her commitment to others, she also offered home health care and personal cleaning services to communal families.
Ms. Carey embarked on her spiritual journey at St. John Baptist Church of Port Arthur, Texas and later joined Greater Macedonia Baptist Church of Port Arthur, Texas where she served the Lord diligently under the tutelage of Pastor Glenn Holmes, until her illness.
Funeral services have been entrusted to Gabriel Funeral Home and will take place on Saturday, June 9, 2018 beginning promptly at 11a.m., at Greater Macedonia Baptist Church, 1224 Houston Avenue, Port Arthur, Texas with viewing from 9 a.m. until service time.
