Several police and emergency vehicles blocked access to parts of Turtle Creek Drive Wednesday in Port Arthur.

At approximately 9 a.m. there was report of a suspicious package in the parking lot of Third Coast Bank on 2901 Turtle Creek Drive.

The bank also shares the building with the United States Coast Guard, where there is a military station inside.

According to Jeremy Hansen with the Coast Guard, one of their units initially identified the package as suspicious. Following protocol, the Coast Guard notified local authorities including Port Arthur police and fire departments.

Additionally, members from an FBI task force and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives were brought onto the scene.

After investigating the package, Hansen said authorities determined it to be safe and of no threat.
