BASEBALL: Blinn’s Ardoin announces commitment to Lamar

Blinn College outfielder Drew Ardoin announced on Twitter he plans to play baseball at Lamar next season.

“Excited to announce that I will be continuing my athletic and academic career at Lamar University,” Ardoin tweeted. “I want to thank all of my family, friends, coaches, and teammates for the support! #Blessed”

Ardoin batted .224 with 11 RBI, scored 24 runs and stole seven bases in 35 games for the Buccaneers, who finished second in the Region XIV South Zone.

Lamar has two junior college transfers who already signed for the 2019 season, J.C. Correa and Jorge Gutierrez of Alvin Community College. Correa is the brother Houston Astros shortstop Carlos Correa. Seven high school seniors and one junior college player signed with Lamar in November.
