A Beaumont couple has been charged with the capital murder of Michael Legg.

Ashlie Cherie Martinez, 24, and Duane Lamonte Owens Jr., 23, were in jail on unrelated charges of assault-family violence by Beaumont Police Department and SWAT on Wednesday and were officially charged with the May 9 death of Legg on Thursday.

Justice of the Peace Pct. 1 Place 1 Kenneth Dollinger denied bond for both Martinez and Owens, Nederland Assistant Police Chief Gary Porter said.

The investigation is ongoing and more arrests are possible.
