The Texas Department of Public Safety has identified the fatal victim of a May 12 motorcycle accident south of Silsbee as the passenger, not the driver.
In an issued statement, DPS said Tuesday the victim was Bobbie Leigh Jackson, 30, of DeRidder, Louisiana, who died at St. Elizabeth hospital after the 3 p.m. wreck on U.S. 96 in Hardin County.
In an initial statement, DPS ID’d the victim as the driver.
The 2013 Harley Davidson motorcycle was traveling southbound when it traveled off the roadway onto the shoulder. In an attempt to get the vehicle back onto the road, the driver overcorrected, which caused the driver and passenger to fall off the motorcycle.
The driver and passenger of the motorcycle were not wearing helmets.
This crash remained under investigation Tuesday and there are no further details to be released, DPS said.
