Mayor, council reelected in Bridge City

Bridge City’s incumbent mayor and three incumbent council members were returned to office Saturday in light voting.
In complete but unofficial voting, Mayor David Rutledge, who ran opposed, took 389 of 445 votes cast to win re-election to a second term. Among City Council races:
- For Place 2, former mayor Kirk Roccaforte ran unopposed and took 392 votes.
- For Place 4, Eric Andrus, also unopposed, took 392 votes to win reelection.
- For Place 6, Lucy Fields took 277 votes to defeat challenger Joseph Hannan, 277-163.
Turnout was 8.27 percent, with 445 of 5,382 voters casting their ballots through early voting or day of balloting.
Sherry Tisdale, city secretary, said the City Council will confirm election results on May 15.
School district
For Bridge City Independent School District, two places were decided:
- For place No. 1, Patty Collins defeated Paul Zoch, 385-213.
- For place No. 2, incumbent Judy Cole ran unopposed and took 525 votes.
