Jamie Crowe of Lamar pulled away from Nathan Jones of McNeese State in the final 400 meters of the men’s 10,000-meter run to win the Southland Conference championship Friday night in San Antonio.

The runners from rival schools went stride-for-stride until Crowe, from Scotland, took over and turned in a time of 31 minutes, 1.94 seconds. Jones was second at 31:09.82.

It was one of two championships awarded Friday. Alexandria Hackett of Abilene Christian won the women’s 10,000 meters with Lamar’s Katy Whiteoak finishing fifth.
