MEN’S BASKETBALL: Seahawks sign ninth recruit, fourth this week

Lamar State College Port Arthur signed its fourth recruit this week and ninth for the 2018-19 season Thursday.

Christavious Thomas will join Lamar State from North Caddo High School in Vivian, Louisiana. Gulf Coast Basketball website has the 6-foot-5 forward ranked 15th in the state, and Prep Hoops Louisiana marks him at No. 21.

The Seahawks landed 6-foot-11 post Jaden Edward of Lafayette (Louisiana) High the 40th-ranked player in the state according to two publications, late Tuesday. That was hours after Port Arthur Memorial seniors Jamyus Jones and Thailan Wesley inked with the Seahawks.

Lamar State has signed four players from Louisiana for next season. Braylon Chaisson of Carencro signed in November and Devaughn Thomas of Lafayette Comeaux committed April 18.
