MEN’S BASKETBALL: Lamar State adds HBU transfer, Louisiana prep standout

Former Houston Baptist forward Colin Just and Louisiana high school standout Devaughn Thomas have joined Lamar State’s signing class for the 2018-19 men’s basketball season.

Just (6-feet-6, 215 pounds) spent the past two seasons at Houston Baptist of the Southland Conference, but did not record any statistics this season. He appeared in only four games and made 4 of 8 field goals and 2 of 4 free throws while grabbing nine rebounds. He averaged 16 points and 9.5 rebounds as a senior at Magnolia West High School, where he lettered for three seasons.

Thomas is a 6-7 wing player from Lafayette Comeaux High School who was ranked 13th in the state by Prep Hoops Louisiana and 32nd by MaxPreps.

Just and Thomas are the fourth and fifth signees to the Seahawks for next season, joining Beaumont Central’s Byron Arceneaux, Carencro, Louisiana’s Braylon Chaisson and Fort Bend Bush’s Terrance Minor.

Port Arthur Memorial standouts Jamyus Jones and Thailan Wesley are expected to sign with the Seahawks next Tuesday.
