BASEBALL: Astros sell out championship ring

Published 5:17 pm Wednesday, April 11, 2018

The Houston Astros sold out all 111 available world championship fan rings in seven days.

That set a record for the fastest sellout of a commemorative ring in Jostens’ history, the Astros announced Wednesday. Nearly half of the rings were purchased without being seen prior to the April 3 championship ring ceremony.

Jostens created 112 rings, with one being raffled off to benefit the Astros Foundation. Raffle tickets may be purchased at www.astros.com/foundation.

Each fan ring was retailed at $11,112, symbolizing the 11 postseason wins and 101 regular-season wins plus the 11 in the postseason to equal 112.

An exclusive “Elite Fan Ring” is available for those who did not receive a limited-edition world championship fan ring. The ring, available in 10-karat white or yellow gold and diamonds, will sell for $4,899.

Net proceeds from the Astros’ “H Strong” jewelry collection, in partnership with Jostens, will benefit the Astros Foundation’s ongoing Harvey recovery efforts.
