BASEBALL: Bulldogs No. 1 in Greater Houston baseball poll

The road to Round Rock just might go through Nederland this year.

Texas Prep Baseball ranked Nederland No. 1 in its Greater Houston baseball poll. The Bulldogs are 15-5-1 and 7-0 in District 22-5A and are coming off a 13-0 rout of Ozen.

Braydon Credeur and Christian Martinez each struck out two, and Brock Holton struck out four in 2 2/3 innings of work. The staff allowed Ozen just two hits.

Landon Hiltz, Alan Underwood and Derek Smith each had two hits. Angel Castillo batted in three runs, and Brian Davila and Underwood each drove in two. Trenton Simon, Case Babino, Alexander Ortiz, Davila and Castillo each had a hit.

Magnolia (15-5), Tomball (13-5-1), Brenham (16-6-1) and Barbers Hill (14-7) round out the top five. Port Neches-Groves (11-9-3) is 11th.

Texas Prep Baseball also named Landon Hiltz of Nederland its 5A hitter of the week for the region. Hiltz had the game-winning hit in the Bulldogs’ second victory over PNG last week.
