FOOTBALL: ALLEN RETIRES FROM HIGHLAND PARK

Published 11:29 pm Wednesday, March 21, 2018

Dallas Highland Park head football coach Randy Allen announced his retirement Wednesday, months after winning his second straight state championship in UIL 5A.

Allen had been a head coach for 37 years in Texas and completed his 19th at the prestigious school located just north of downtown Dallas, according to the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. His 376 wins rank fourth all-time in UIL history, the newspaper added.

Highland Park came from double digits down to defeat Manvel 53-49 in December’s 5A Division I title game. It was the Scots’ third championship under Allen, who also won it all in 2005 with Matthew Stafford at quarterback and current Port Neches-Groves head coach Brandon Faircloth as a running backs coach.
