COLLEGE STATION — Alexus Henry topped her own school record Friday in the Texas A&M Charlie Thomas Invitational.

The UT Arlington true junior, who graduated from Bridge City, cleared 6 feet, 1 ¼ inches during the pentathlon, beating her previous record of 5-11 ½ from two years ago. With Friday’s jump, she is ranked second in the NCAA in the high jump and became the first UT Arlington female to top 6 feet indoor or outdoor.

Henry finished sixth in the pentathlon. If her jump remains in the top 16 after the regular season and conference meets, she will qualify for the NCAA Indoor Championships, March 9-10 in College Station. Her jump beat last year’s cutoff height of 6-½.
