PA drivers license office to operate at reduced capacity

Due to staff turnover at the Port Arthur Driver License Office, the department will adjust resources at nearby offices to operate the Port Arthur office at reduced capacity to continue services to the community.

Once replacement permanent staff are hired and/or trained in the coming months, the Department f Public Safety anticipates the office will resume normal operations.

To find a convenient alternative location during this time period, including the Orange and Beaumont driver license offices, customers can search driver license office locations and hours at: http://www.dps.texas.gov/administration/driver_licensing_control/rolodex/search.asp

Many Texans are eligible to skip the trip to a driver license office altogether and instead take advantage of online services for driver license/ID card renewals, duplicates or address changes by visiting Texas.gov. Customers can also renew by phone at 1-866-357-3639. The eligibility requirements for phone renewal and online renewal are the same. The fee is the same for online, in-person and telephone renewals.

Important reminder: Customers may renew their Driver License/Texas ID card one year early prior to their expiration date, which allows them to choose a convenient time that fits their schedule.
