Port Arthur shooting victims ID’d

An official with the city of Port Arthur has released the name of two gunshot victims, including one who died on Thursday.

Kevin Tran, 24, was fatally shot in the back of the head and in the chest while on the porch of a home around 6 p.m. in the 1300 block of Trinity Avenue. A second victim, Sheldon Polk, 24, was also shot in the chest and the head and was transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont. He was last listed in critical condition.

A two-year-old child was in the home at the time of the shooting but was unharmed, Risa Carpenter, spokesperson for the city, said.

The city saw two other shootings including a fatal shooting earlier in the day that led to a five-car crash.

The shooting victim in this incident has not been identified as of noon Friday.

Another shooting – with no victims – occurred just before 3 p.m. in the 2800 block of 24th Street where police found multiple caliber shell casings at the location.

All of the incidents remain under investigation.
