Port Arthur police probe three shootings

Port Arthur police Thursday evening were investigating three shootings, although it was uncertain if they were connected.
City spokeswoman Risa Carpenter confirmed shortly before 7 p.m. that a shooting had occurred on Trinity Street in the Griffing Park area.
She said a Special Weapons and Tactics Unit, or SWAT team, was on the scene. The victim’s condition was uncertain.
Earlier in the day, police were investigating a late-morning shooting in the 6900 block of Memorial Boulevard. The driver later veered into the opposite lane on Highway 69, causing a five-vehicle accident. The driver died at an area hospital.
On Thursday afternoon, police responded to a shooting in the 2800 block of 24th Street, off Memorial Drive, but were unsure if that shooting was related.
