Jamyus Jones and Thailan Wesley combined for 32 points and Nate Clover added 13 in the win. Memorial (20-5, 7-0 in 22-5A) raced to a 28-7 lead and was ahead 54-15 at halftime.

Memorial will visit a Vidor team that’s just one game out of fourth place in district standings on Tuesday.

Nederland 50, Vidor 40

VIDOR — Nederland’s last two boys basketball games may indicate the Bulldogs aren’t ready to stay home after the regular season.

Following an 82-35 home win over Livingston on Thursday, Nederland broke a fourth-place tie in District 22-5A with a 50-40 victory at Vidor on Friday.

A 16-7 first quarter gave Nederland (21-9, 4-3 in 22-5A) some early separation, but Vidor had a 34-32 lead through three periods. That all changed in the fourth when the Bulldogs went on an 18-6 spurt to put away the Pirates.

Hayden Hefner led Nederland with 18 points. Cade Smith added 14.

William Fawcett had 13 and Asher Fondren 10 for Vidor (14-12, 3-4), which suffered a stunning loss for the second day in a row. Ozen beat Vidor 50-48 in Beaumont on Thursday.

Nederland will head to Beaumont Central on Thursday.

Lumberton 47, PNG 44

PORT NECHES — Coming off a 46-point loss to Memorial, PNG wanted a win to avoid dropping further back in the playoff race out of 22-5A.

But a three-point attempt at the buzzer would not go in, and Lumberton (10-17, 2-5) remained in sixth place in the district with the win.

PNG (11-16, 1-6) was held to five second-quarter points and trailed 21-17 at the half. The second half was almost evenly contested.

Trent Lee scored 19 points to lead PNG. Gavin Whitmire scored 19 and Reagan Koch 11 for Lumberton.

PNG will host Livingston on Tuesday.

Evadale 107, Sabine Pass 56

EVADALE — Daniel Sam finished with had of Sabine Pass’ points, but Evadale nearly scored twice as much as the Sharks did Friday.

The third quarter, she added, is still their nemesis.

Chelsea Carrillo pulled down 12 rebounds to go with 12 points and PNG had three more score 11 apiece, but Lumberton (8-1 in 22-5A) expanded a 29-24 halftime lead and didn’t look back.
