Hard freeze warning remains for Greater Port Arthur

The National Weather Service in Lake Charles says a hard freeze warning will remain in effect until late morning in Greater Port Arthur, while public safety officials urge drivers to stay off the roads until ice melts.

Temperatures remained in the vicinity of 20 degrees at 7 a.m. with a high expected later today near 37.

Wind chill values would be in the range of between 10 and 20, the NWS said.

Schools in Port Arthur, Nederland and Port Neches-Groves systems are closed Wednesday.

The start of classes was delayed at Lamar State Port Arthur and at Lamar University.
