The first day of the Cajun Classic at Indian Stadium left PNG with two shutout wins, 1-0 over Barbers Hill and 6-0 over Crosby. PNG (4-0-2) now has three shutouts this season.

Ariel Muller scored on a penalty kick in the first half for the only goal of the mid-morning contest, the second one of the day at the stadium.

“They actually got more possessions,” PNG coach Aimee Bates said of Barbers Hill. “They had a 55 percent to 45 percent advantage in possession time. Each team had 13 attacks in transition. The fact that our defense is stepping up and not allowing a shot against us says a lot.”

Bates added the Indians’ forwards stayed active and made good moves on offense.

Against Crosby, Jillian Flores scored twice, and Izzy Volk, Halley Smith, and Abby Reeves added a goal each.

Libbie LeJeune has been in the net for each of PNG’s games.

The Indians will take on College Station at 4:25 p.m. today at Indian Stadium.
