BEAUMONT — An Orange County man was killed Monday afternoon while walking on or near Highway 69 in Beaumont.

Beaumont police said Dayton W. Greer, 46, was either walking alongside the road or attempting to cross the roadway when he was hit by a pick-up truck in the 6100 block.

Police were called to the scene at 3:54.

Officers found the victim in the roadway and he was transported to a nearby hospital, where he later died from his injuries.

The investigation continued Tuesday.
