Ursin Benoit was born April 1, 1926 in Rayne, Louisiana and went to be with the Lord on December 31, 2017.
He was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn; son Kenneth (Leo) Benoit; sister, Marie Benoit; and his parents Jean and Rosalie Benoit.
Ursin served in the United States Navy during WWII. After returning home he and Evelyn were married on May 9, 1948. They later moved to Port Arthur, Texas where Ursin went to work at Texaco as a welder until his retirement.
Ursin was a good husband, dad, grandfather and great-grandfather. He dearly loved watching his sons and grandsons play baseball. He enjoyed going dancing and took many spins around the dance floor at the Single’s Club! We all looked forward to a special treat at our front door out of his wonderful garden that he worked on diligently each year! We will sorely miss those wonderful tomatoes!
He is survived by his sons, Lowell Benoit and wife Debbie of Port Neches, Dwayne Benoit and wife Mary of Nederland; daughter-in-law, Shelly Benoit; grandchildren, Shawn Benoit, Amber Wagner and husband Chris, Kensie Benoit, Derek Benoit, Kane Benoit and wife Hannah, Keaston Benoit and Kooper Benoit; and great-grandson, Caedmon Wagner.
Ursin’s grandchildren will serve as pallbearers and his great-grandson will be an honorary pallbearer.
He will be missed by his family and friends, but we know he is happy in a wonderful, pain-free place with those who have gone before him.
A visitation for family and friends will begin at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, January 4, 2018 at Levingston Funeral Home in Groves followed by the funeral service at 11:00 a.m., with Reverend Ethan Oakes officiating. Burial will be at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches.
