A Beaumont couple greeted their new daughter at 1:24 a.m. Monday, the first child born in Jefferson County in 2018.
Brittany Duhon, a lab technician, and Rick Broussard, a plant worker, announced the birth of daughter Isabella Briell Broussard at St. Elizabeth’s in Beaumont.
Brittany was 6 pounds, 11 ounces and received a gift basket as the first child born in the new year.
Duhon said she arrived at St. Elizabeth’s around 10 p.m. New Year’s Eve and delivered the child three hours later.
“The first thing I thought when I saw her was she was the most beautiful thing I’ve ever seen,” the first-time mother said.
She said Isabella had been sleeping well all day Monday.
A hospital spokeswoman said it was the first time in many years that St. Elizabeth’s had the first baby of the year.
