Carolyn “Sugar Boo” Pursley

Carolyn Pursley, 74, of Port Arthur passed away Tuesday, December 12, 2017 at Senior Rehabilitation Nursing Center. A native of Odenburg, LA, she was a resident of Port Arthur for 55 years. Carolyn graduated from Dunbar High School in Simmesport, LA in 1961.
She is preceded in death by her parents, Earnisteen and Willie Wilbert Scott and one son, Ronald Pursley.
Carolyn is survived by her husband of 55 years, Thomas Pursley; son, Alan Pursley (Karen) of Beaumont, TX; three daughters, Angela Pursley, Demetra P. Edwards (Harry) and Debra P. Williams (Donald) all of Port Arthur, TX; five grandchildren, Michael Pursley, Ashley P. Fairley (Landry), Brittney Cormier, Kelby Green and Christal Pursley; two great-grandchildren, MaKayla and Mariah; one uncle, Huey P. Payne of Houston, TX; one godchild, Florence Griffin of LA; six brothers-in-law and two sisters-in-law; and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, December 16, 2017 at Eastern Star Baptist Church with visitation from 12 noon until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Cemetery under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
