LEWISVILLE — Jordan Brangers scored 14 of his 25 points in the second half, leading third-ranked South Plains College to an 80-70 win over Lamar State College Port Arthur in the Texas East-West Challenge.

The game was South Plains’ season opener. Lamar State dropped to 1-1, following a blowout win over the Houston Gladiators.

Lamar State trailed 35-23 at halftime and was down 43-25 after a quick start out of the locker room by the Texans. The Seahawks pulled within nine points with 1:25 left on a three-point basket by Kolbe Littlefield, but that’s as close as they would come.
