Wanda Mericle Fiorenza, 86, of Beaumont, died Monday, October 30, 2017. She was born on October 2, 1931, in Fort Worth, to Ruby conner Mericle and Herschel Mericle. Wanda was hired in 1979 as the first full time Executive Director of the Lamar University Alumni Association. This was one of the best times of her life, she loved her job.
Wanda is survived by her children, Jim Fiorenza, Mike and Cassie Fiorenza Simpson, Mark and Lisa Fiorenza, Jay Fiorenza, and Steve and Carol Anne Jagneaux; her beloved grandchildren, Brieann and Randy Edwards, Grace Fiorenza, Mary Alison Fiorenza, Alexandria Sandoval, Sydney Jagneaux, Isabella Fiorenza and Gabriella Fiorenza; by her sister and brother-in-law, May and Ed Culotta, and their children.
She is preceded in death by her husband, James Fiorenza; parents; and Sam “Boo” Serio – her best friend and companion twenty-nine years.
A gathering of Ms. Fiorenza’s family and friends will be 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m., with a wake service at 6:00 p.m., Thursday, November 2, 2017, at Broussard’s, 2000 McFaddin Avenue, Beaumont. Her funeral service will be 11:00 a.m., Friday, November 3, 2017, at Broussard’s, with the Most Reverend Joseph A. Fiorenza Archbishop Emeritus presiding.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Epilepsy Foundation or Alzheimer’s Association.
