Edwin J. Nunez, 100, of Port Arthur, passed away Tuesday, October 31, 2017 at Oak Grove Nursing Home. Edwin was born March 18, 1917 in Crowley, Louisiana to the late Numa and Clarice Nunez. Edwin served in the United States Army and the National Guard of Texas. Edwin retired from Texaco as a supervisor after 42 years of service. Mr. Nunez was very active throughout his life up until he became ill in April of this year. He loved gardening, exercising and walking around at the mall. Edwin enjoyed woodworking and also did some work for St. Catherine Catholic School. He also built his own home.
Edwin was preceded in death by his parents, Numa Joseph Nunez and Clarice Mouton Nunez; his wife of 54 years, Mildred Nunez and 11 siblings. He is survived by his son Dale Nunez and his wife, Elizabeth of Boerne, Texas; daughter, Janice Lynch and her husband, Jack of Port Neches. Mr. Nunez also leaves behind grandchildren, Brandy Nunez and Jeremy Nunez; one great grandson, Jaxson Nunez; and several nieces and nephews to cherish his memories.
A gathering of friends and relatives will be held from 9:00 a.m. until 10:00 a.m., with a Celebration of Life service to begin at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017, at Grammier-Oberle Funeral Home. Interment will follow at Greenlawn Memorial Park in Groves.
