Nederland advances in 5A team tennis

Nederland extended its fall tennis season rather easily.

With a 10-0 win over Dayton on Monday, Nederland moved into the second round of the 5A team tennis playoffs. The bi-district round was played at Lamar University.

Alex Luketich, Zach Buff and Tereul Jimenez won their boys singles matches. They teamed with Tommy Hoang, Dwight Lewis and Joshua Tran to help the Bulldogs go unbeaten in boys doubles.

Jayci Wong, Nhi Huynh, Han Vo, Joanna Bruce and Grace Rigby won their girls singles matches. Wong and Rigby, Hannah Abdulah and Huynh and Vo and Bruce partnered in their doubles victories.

Anoasha Adtani and Jarrett Atterberry won the mixed doubles match.

Nederland, the District 22-5A champion, will take on Fort Bend Elkins on Thursday at Goose Creek Memorial.

Port Neches-Groves, the 22-5A runner-up, will play at Barbers Hill at 3 p.m. today in its first-rounder.
