Roger Craig Simon “Big Craig”

Roger Craig Simon, “Big Craig”, was born on December 16, 1964 in Port Arthur, Texas to Vories Simon and Rita Levy.  He went home to be with our Lord, on Tuesday, September 19, 2017.

He was an active member of Christian Faith Missionary Baptist church, where he served on the Usher Board.

He was preceded in death by his father, Vories Simon, stepfather, Dr. Chester Levy, Jr., and paternal grandparents, Alberta Scypion and Rogers Price.

He leaves behind his mother, Rita Levy, and his children, Craig Simon, Tyha Simon and Keyon Thomas all of Pensacola, Florida; his sisters, Bente’ Levy Gage-Brown (Jay) and Laura D. Simon of Port Arthur, Texas; his pride and joy, Chad Mobley, his god-daughter Danyel Alexis, and a host of aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.

Craig graduated from Lincoln High School in 1983, and joined the Navy, where he worked as a corpsman and orthopedic technician until he became ill; and was medically retired in 1989.  Following his tour of duty in service, he became a surgical technician at Baptist Hospital and West Florida Hospital in Pensacola, Florida.

Craig Simon enjoyed his children, who were his “life”, and loved his grandson, Chad.  He enjoyed fishing, cooking, grilling, and being around his family.  He was very loving, brought “life to every room he entered”, and never met a stranger.

Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday, September 30, 2017, Christian Faith Missionary Baptist Church, 1919 Jefferson Drive, Port Arthur, Texas with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time.  Entombment will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
