Villa Main victim died from gunshot wound

A preliminary autopsy report on Joseph Lindley, who was found unconscious on a sidewalk at Villa Main Apartment complex early Monday morning, died from a gunshot wound to the head.
An autopsy was performed Tuesday afternoon, which confirmed that a shooting had occurred. Early in the investigation Port Arthur authorities would not confirm the cause of death.
The death is considered a homicide, according to a clerk at Jefferson County Justice of the Peace Pct. 1, Place 2 Nancy Beaulieu’s office.
The victim’s last known residence was in Port Arthur.
Lindley was found unconscious on the sidewalk at the Villa Main Apartment Complex in the 900 block of Main Avenue around 4 a.m. Monday.
He was treated by EMS before being transported to The Medical Center of Southeast Texas, Risa Carpenter, public information officer for the city of Port Arthur, said. Medical staff at the hospital prepared him to be transported to St. Elizabeth Hospital in Beaumont where he later died.
