PREP ROUNDUP: Rock-A-Noos stay unbeaten in 22-5A

PORT NECHES — Rachel Hammersmith totaled 22 assists, Kaitlyn Gil pounded 14 kills, and Port Neches-Groves stayed atop District 22-5A with a 25-8, 25-14, 25-8 win over Beaumont Central on Tuesday.
The Rock-A-Noos are now 17-5 and 4-0 in district with the win. They shared first place with Nederland until Tuesday, when Livingston topped the Bulldogs in four sets.
Libbie LeJeune and Kasidee Sartin each served on 14 points.
LeJeune had eight digs and Bayja Newby five, Elizabeth Bolyard chalked up four digs and Gil added two for the Rock-A-Noos.
Bolyard made eight kills and Layla Stansbury added five. Baylee Priddy had nine assists.
Memorial 3, Vidor 2
VIDOR — Port Arthur Memorial picked up a momentum-changing win in 22-5A play.
The Titans had dropped two straight before defeating Vidor 15-25, 25-20, 25-22, 18-25, 15-13 on the road. That evened Memorial’s district mark at 2-2 and improved them to 13-7, still maybe their best start through 20 games in school history.

Livingston 3, Nederland 1
NEDERLAND — The Bulldogs (14-9, 3-1 in 22-5A) earned a close first-set win, but the Lions dominated the next two sets and held off the host team in set 4 to end the Bulldogs’ unbeaten start to district play.
Abbey Montalvo had 13 kills, 15 assists, 14 digs and one ace in the 24-26, 25-15, 25-17, 25-23 loss. Karley McGill had 12 kills and two blocks, and Peyton Smith totaled 27 digs for Nederland.
