PREP ROUNDUP: PNG, Nederland move to 3-0 in district

PORT NECHES — A 25-7 first-set victory set the tone for Port Neches-Groves on Monday, as the Rock-A-Noos won their third match in four days sweeping Vidor.

Baylee Priddy made 16 assists and Libblie LeJeune served 12 points in a 25-7, 25-18, 25-15 victory. Elizabeth Bolyard had eight service points, and Rachel Hammersmith added seven.

Kaitlyn Gil, Bayja Newby and LeJeune each made eight digs for PNG (16-5, 3-0 in 22-5A). Hammersmith had five of her own and also assisted on nine points.

Bolyard led the front line with four blocks, while Stalee Adams and Priddy blocked two apiece. Gil scored 11 kills, LeJeune totaled seven and Bolyard had four.

PNG hosts Beaumont Central tonight.

Nederland 3, Central 0
NEDERLAND — The Bulldogs (14-8, 3-0 in 22-5A) kept track with the Rock-A-Noos for the district lead thanks in part to another all-around effort by Abbey Montalvo.

She had 12 assists, eight digs and six kills.

Destyn Miguez came up with six digs and four aces for Nederland. Three of the last four points of the match were off her aces.

Also for the Bulldogs, Karley McGill totaled five kills and two blocks and Peyton Smith finished with 17 digs and an ace.
Nederland hosts Livingston tonight.

Also Monday, Port Arthur Memorial lost at Livingston 20-25, 25-16, 25-23, 25-14. Memorial visits Vidor tonight.
