Buyers beware of storm damaged cars

Although buying a car can sometimes be a frustrating experience, unwittingly buying a car that has been through a flood can become a nightmare.
Sadly, this is a risk many now face.
If any of our readers are now facing the prospect of getting a car, we hope they will first read our story about what to beware of on the car lot.
While big dealerships could face serious repercussions on social media if they are caught trying to pass off storm damaged cars, there is no law in Texas that prevents someone from selling a storm-damaged car as merely used.
In short, your shadier car lots and less scrupulous individuals will be looking to prey on anyone who needs a car fast and for cheap.
So, we hope our readers do their homework. At the bare minimum, make sure you ask any individual or any smaller pre-owned dealership to give you written confirmation that the car you are buying was not damaged in the flood.
That way, if anyone does become a victim, the small claims court may be able to help.
