LU ROUTS NICHOLLS IN SECOND HALF

BEAUMONT — Lucy Ashworth, Kelso Peskin and Juliana Ocampo each scored Friday, helping Lamar open Southland Conference play with a 3-1 win over Nicholls State.

Lauren Lovejoy of Port Neches made seven saves in the victory. Lamar (6-2-1, 1-0 Southland) outshot Nicholls 29-15.

Madison Ledet of Nederland assisted on Ashworth’s goal in the eighth minute of the second half. That gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead after the game was scoreless at halftime.
