Vincent “Choo” James Allen 97, passed away peacefully on 28, August, 2017 at his home, in Port Arthur, TX. He was born on April 6, 1920 in Opelousas, LA to Vincent and Gussie Getwood-Allen.
Vincent moved to Port Arthur during his early years and attended Abraham Lincoln High School. He was drafted to the United States Army and served for three years with a tour of duty in Japan. After the service to his country, Vincent worked for Gulf Oil as a heavy equipment operator for 42 years before retiring. Vincent was a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and served as a member of the Knights of Peter Claver. Vincent enjoyed fishing, riding a bike and being around his family.
Vincent was preceded in death by his parents, Vincent and Gussie Allen, his sister and brothers, Vera, Percy and Harding Allen, his first wife, Louise Allen and his stepdaughter Marilyn Allen.
Those left to cherish his memory wife, Ethel Allen, where they spend 33 years of devotion to one and other. Vincent is also survived by his brother, James Charles Allen of San Mateo, CA. Vincent leaves behind eight children, Vincentia (Melvin) Moore of Houston TX, Larry (Beverly) Joseph, Vincent John (Elexas) Allen, II of Houston, TX, Luther (Irean) Cotton of Port Arthur, TX, Lori Ann (Glenn) McCray of Port Arthur, TX, Arleen (Briant) Hall of Port Arthur, TX, Leonard (Cheryl) Allen, of Round Rock, TX and Gloria (Donald) Smith of Port Arthur, TX. Included in his family are 19 grandchildren, 26 great grandchildren and a host of relatives, nieces, nephews and friends.
Funeral service will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 920 Booker T Washington Ave, Port Arthur, TX. Saturday at 10 A.M. Entombment will follow at Live Oak Mausoleum. Service entrusted to Hannah Funeral Home, Inc.
