Andrew Landry capped a solid showing in the first of four Web.com Tour playoff events Sunday by posting a three-under-par 68 that earned him a share of third place in the Nationwide Children’s Hospital Championship in Columbus, Ohio.
More important to Landry, his $58,000 check moved him from fourth to second in combined money earned on the Web.com Tour this season. The player who finishes first in combined money earns extra perks with his PGA Tour card.
The Groves native, with his fourth consecutive subpar round over Ohio State’s Scarlett Course, finished with a 72-hole total of 11-under 273. That was three shots off the winning pace of Peter Uilhein and two back of runner-up Ryan Armour.
Landry rolled in five birdies to offset two bogeys on the way to his 68. His tie for third marked the seventh top 10 finish of the 2017 season for Landry. He’s authored a first, a tie for second and two ties for thirds.
With the $58,000 check, Landry’s combined earnings moved to $342,939. That leaves him less than $26,000 behind leader Brice Garnett, who did not make the cut this week.
Stop number two in the Web.com playoffs is the Albertson’s Boise Open, Sept. 14-17 in Boise, Idaho.
