A series of press releases will be on the agenda of the regular meeting of the Port Arthur City Council at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday, Aug. 15 at the Port Arthur City Hall, 444 Fourth St.

The council will consider whether or not to issue an ambulance permit to operate an ambulance, Concord EMS of Houston, within the city.

A second public hearing is to consider amending the zoning ordinance to add a land-use description for gaming rooms, to add definitions for a gaming room and for a gaming machine and to establish an off-street parking space requirement.

The third public hearing is to amend the commercial refuse code of ordinances increasing commercial container service rate to 97 percent of lowest charge in region for commercial rates, over a three-year period, 33 percent increase each year and the third year 34 percent.

The council will consider a bid for a contract with Old Castle Materials Gulf Coast, Inc. of Beaumont for the West Rev. Dr. Ransom Howard Street repavement rehabilitation project. The projected budgetary impact of $1,462,606.

An interoffice memorandum read Old Castle was the most responsive and recommended the bid. This project will be funded by the Texas General Land Office account with a budget of $730,000 and city streets account with a proposed budgetary impact of $732,606.

The council will consider approval of Architectural Services with the Labiche Architectural Group, Inc. of Beaumont for $14,000 plus reimbursable not to exceed $1,500.

The firm of Arceneaux, Wilson & Cole will do wetland mitigation for $16,000 for a GLO grant to develop property on Pleasure Island into a beach front park.

Under petitions and communications, Mary Ann Goudeau Reid, community relations supervisor will speak regarding concern for professional emergency medical services in the city of Port Arthur.

Stephen A. Mosely will speak regarding agreement for broadcast advertisement.

Kandace M. Tappen, assistant city manger and Darlene Thomas-Pierre, code compliance director will speak on the public works Mercer Report.

LaRisa Carpenter, public information officer, will speak on the city’s communication plan.
