MHS-Sterling scrimmage to benefit benevolence fund

Memorial’s home football scrimmages against Baytown Sterling on Aug. 18 will benefit the Texas High School Coaches Education Foundation’s Benevolence Fund.

The day has become known as “Our Day to Shine.” The fund was established by the association’s board of directors to assist athletes and coaches with special needs or hardships. More than 900 schools have participated in “Our Day to Shine” and have raised more than $383,000. Of this amount, more than $382,000 have been paied to athletes and coaches and special needs.

Admission to the scrimmage will be $1 each. Scrimmage times are 9 a.m. for freshmen, 10 a.m. for junior varsity and 11 a.m. for varsity.
