The Brooklyn Nets on Thursday announced the signing of former University of Texas center Jarrett Allen.

The son of Lincoln graduate Leonard Allen agreed to a four-year deal worth about $10 million, according to Newsday. (NBA teams typically do not announce terms of contracts.) Jarrett Allen, who was picked 22nd overall in June’s NBA draft, did not play in the Las Vegas Summer League due to a hip injury, the newspaper added.

Allen, who played his high school basketball at St. Stephen’s Episcopal School in Round Rock, played one season at Texas. He averaged 13.4 points, 8.4 rebounds and 1.5 blocks in 32.1 minutes in 33 games for the Longhorns, shooting 56.6 percent from the floor. His 12 double-doubles tied for third-most by a freshman in Texas history, and he ranks fourth all-time in rebounds by a freshman with 278.

The Nets acquired the pick when they sent two players to the Washington Wizards in February, according to Newsday.

The Dallas Mavericks drafted Leonard Allen out of San Diego State in 1985. He was a part of Lincoln’s first UIL state championship team in 1981.
