Baton Rouge school hires former TJ coach Jagneaux

Emrick Jagneaux, the man who led Thomas Jefferson to the 1983 5A state baseball championship, has been hired as head coach at Parkview Baptist School in Baton Rouge.
The Advocate newspaper of Baton Rouge first reported the hire.
Jagneaux’s TJ Yellowjackets were the only Port Arthur-area baseball team to win a UIL state championship until this June, when Port Neches-Groves won the 5A crown. (In 1983, 5A was the largest classification.) TJ’s team included Mitch Gaspard, a former Alabama head coach who is now an assistant at Kansas State.
Jagneaux, 66, has 42 years of experience, including a short stint as Louisiana-Lafayette’s interim coach in 1987, according to The Advocate. He also was an assistant coach at Lamar and Wharton County Junior College.
Jagneaux led The Woodlands Christian Academy to the TAPPS Division III finals this past spring, falling to Lubbock Christian. TWCA was 26-6.
