Elisa Dominguez Canizales, 79, of Nederland, Texas passed away on Sunday, July 2, 2017 at Altus Hospice Center in Beaumont.
She was born on September 6, 1937 to her parents, Jose A. Dominguez and Rosa Navarro Dominguez in San Ignacio, Texas. Elisa lived most of her life in the area. She worked at Texaco Research for a number of years, then worked and retired from the State of Texas as an administrative assistant with the Medical Transportation Division after 15 years of service. Elisa was a longtime member of Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church in Port Arthur.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Elisa is survived by her husband, Joe H. Canizales of Nederland, her two daughters, Elizabeth Batchelor and husband, Ronald of Vidor, Aran Rapsch of Salt Lake City, Utah, her five step children, Joe Canizales and wife, Susie, Johnnie Canizales and wife, Linda, Sandra Perez and husband, Donald, Bebe Thomas and Steve Canizales. Her grandchildren, Celeste (Jimmy) Reynolds, Christopher (Jenna) Scott, Rachel (Justin) LeBalnc, Krystal Landry, Nick (Taina) Canizales, Mike (Edwina) Canizales, John Matthew Canizales, Nina (Wes) Corley, Andrea (Lucas) Harris, Ashley (Alex) Lily, Jordan Thomas along with her great grandchildren, Ryan Wilson, Shane Reynolds, Wyatt Scott, James Scott, Cade, Madaline, Trevor, Owen, Melody and Samuel.
She is also survived by her four sisters, Lide J. Dominguez of Austin, Texas, Corina Quintela of Nederland, Carol Fontenot of Colorado Springs, CO., Sara (Mondo) Hernandez of Groves and her brother, Jose A. (Helen) Dominguez of Bastrop, Texas as well as a host of nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be on Tuesday, July 4, 2017 from 5:00 PM till 8:00 PM with a rosary to be prayed at 6:00 PM at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home in Groves. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:30 Wednesday, July 5, 2017 at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church with Rev. Urbano Sáenz Ramírez serving as celebrant. Burial will follow in Memory Gardens in Nederland.
