Port Neches-Groves third baseman Austin Bost was named a first-team 5A All-State baseball player by the Texas High School Baseball Coaches Association.

The association released its All-State list for all classed Monday. Bost was one of two PNG players to receive the honor, as pitcher Nathan Vidrine was named to the second team.

Bost hit .488 (21 of 43) during District 22-5A play and finished the season hitting .366 (45 of 123) after a strong performance in the playoffs. He drove in 11 runs on 12 hits in the Indians’ 15 playoff games.

Vidrine, who also made outstanding stops as a shortstop, has been a shutdown pitcher in elimination games for the Indians. He took over the mound in the first inning of the 5A state semifinal against Frisco Wakeland and held the Wolverines scoreless on three hits to pick up a come-from-behind win.

Vidrine finished 8-1 with a 1.26 ERA on the season. He won six straight decisions.

West Orange-Stark pitcher Jack Dallas was placed on the 4A All-State first team. Teammate Ryan Ragsdale made the third team as a third baseman.

Bridge City placed catcher Schuyler Thibodaux on the first team and first baseman Caleb Dubois on the third team.
