Jefferson County Courthouse cleared

The Jefferson County Courthouse was evacuated in response to a bomb threat Monday morning.

At approximately 11:15 a.m., an unspecified bomb threat was received and out of caution the court house was evacuated, according to Jefferson County Sheriff Office Captain Crystal Holmes.

She said emergency response teams were to be sent in to search the premises.

UPDATE:

Emergency response teams have conducted their search of the courthouse and no devices were discovered.

“We have called an ‘All Clear,'” Holmes said. “And the courthouse has reopened.”

Authorities are currently looking into the call. The investigation will be conducted by the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office, the ATF and the FBI.
