Josie Lee Welch, of Houston, TX, died early Saturday morning, April 22, 2017at The Houston Hospice.  A native of Port Arthur, TX, and 1968 graduate of Stephen F. Austin High School, she was a resident of Houston for 40+ years, and employed by Memorial Hermann Hospital.  Josie was a member of St. Thomas Moore Catholic Church (Houston, TX), and also a part of the first line of Delta Sigma Theta, at the University of Houston.

Josie is preceded in death by her parents, Fred Welch and Rosa Mae Sinegar Welch; sister, Sylvia Kay Welch Gordon.  She leaves to cherish her memories her son, Nolan Quincy Welch and granddaughter, Nia Welch of Houston, TX; siblings Barbara Welch (Houston, TX), Deborah and Nolan Welch (Port Arthur, TX), Willie Welch of Portland, OR; and a host of other relatives and friends.

Funeral service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Friday, May 19, 2017 at Sacred Heart Catholic Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Greenlawn Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
