Clyde Owens

Clyde Owens, 93, of Katy, formerly of Port Arthur, passed away on Wednesday, May 10, 2017 at Solera at West Houston Nursing Home.
Clyde was born on October 12, 1923 in Rayne, Louisiana, the oldest of four children, to parents Nola (Dominque) and Ovignac Owens. He worked on the family farm until March of 1944 and then moved to Port Arthur to start working for Texaco Oil Refinery. Clyde was a member, worked and retired from United Methodist Temple in Port Arthur. He was a member of Masonic Lodge; district instructor for 11 years and he achieved Master of the Lodge. Clyde loved working in his garden, even after blindness and he was known for his beautiful roses. He had moved to Katy in 2015 to be near his family.
He was preceded by his parents, his wife, Louise Griffords Owens, who he married in November of 1953; his sisters, Bernice Credeur and Edith Sonnier.
He is survived by his brother, Clifton Owens of Crowley, LA; nieces, Susan Jordan, Linda Faul and Connie Anderson.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 13, 2017 at 3 pm at Clayton Thompson Funeral Home, a gathering of family and friends from 2 pm until service time at the funeral home. Burial will follow at Memory Gardens in Nederland.
