Emile Haley, Sr.

Emile Haley, Sr. was born on October 15, 1925 in Dubuisson, Louisiana to the union of Dallas B. Haley, Sr. and Evelina Calligan Haley. Through this marriage, Emile and twelve others siblings were born. Emile, loving called “Sweet or Po Boy”, was called to his resting home on May 5, 2017.
Emile moved to Port Arthur, Texas in 1943. He was employed by Texaco for forty-two years, retiring in 1986.
He met and married Rosella Frazier. Through this marriage of forty-three years, seven children were born. Nathan, Lionel, Anthony, Emile Jr., Betty, Paula, and Stephanie.
He was preceded in death by his wife Rosella Haley of 43 years, his parents, two sons, two sisters, five brothers, and two grandsons.
He leaves to cherish in his memories, three sons Nathan (Edna) and Lionel of Port Arthur; Emile Jr (Arthur Faye) of Baytown, three daughters Betty and Paula of Houston; and Stephanie (Dillard) of Port Arthur; twenty-four grandchildren, fifty-four great–grandchildren and fourteen great-great grandchildren; special daughter Linda (Nolan) Davis of Port Arthur; siblings, Leroy (Melrose) Haley, Olivia Johnson, and Samuel (Wynonna) Haley, sisters-in-law Gloria Jean Haley and Annie Haley and a host of loving nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.
Funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday, May 12, 2017 at New St. John Missionary Baptist Church with visitation from 9 a.m. until service time. Burial will follow in Live Oak Memorial Park under the direction of Gabriel Funeral Home.
