KINGWOOD — Despite 10 strikeouts by Alexis LaBure, Port Neches-Groves could not give her run support Thursday and dropped the first game of a best-of-three 5A bidistrict softball playoff.

PNG (22-8) left six runners on base and outhit KP 7-5, but five errors did the Indians in. KP score a run each in the third through fifth innings and added two more in the sixth, with a solo home run in the fifth and triple in the sixth doing the most damage.

Kaitlyn Boudreaux went 2 for 3 to lead PNG at the plate. Marlee Barnett drove in a run, Callie Jourdan scored the lone run and stole three bases, and Brooke Smith, Kasidee Sartin, Sydnee Adams, Jordan and Barnett each had one hit.
